Our family of supermarkets
In 1937, a few grocery store owners came together with the idea to use their combined size and strength to provide their customers the products they wanted at the low prices they needed. On April 20, 1937, Key Food Stores Co-operative, Inc. was formed in Brooklyn and has since grown to over 145 supermarkets spanning all five boroughs, Long Island, upstate New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Times have changed but the values that Key Food was founded on have not. All of our stores are still individually owned and operated, allowing us to meet the diverse needs of each neighborhood we serve.
We’re proud to be part of the community and offer the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices.
Larger suburban stores featuring expanded departments, Key Food Marketplaces boast full-service meat departments with custom cuts to order, prime meat, and Bell & Evans chicken, as well as deli departments offering an array of international cheeses. They also have produce departments that include organic products and floral sections.
Founded in 1993, the Food Dynasty group of supermarkets joined Key Food Stores Co-operative, Inc. in 2005 to enhance their customers’ shopping experience by leveraging Key Food’s buying power to offer their customers even greater savings.
When you walk into a Key Fresh & Natural, the first thing you will notice is the eye-catching produce department. While Key Fresh & Naturals may be smaller than some of our other stores, they still maintain a concentrated effort on perishables- produce, meat, and deli departments.
